Wellness exams are an important part of building our relationships with our clients and their pets. It also allows our veterinarians to detect early stages of diseases in apparently healthy animals. Early detection is crucial for providing the best treatment options for your companion for as long as possible. Our wellness services include everything from new puppy exams to senior patient services. This includes things like vaccinations, parasite prevention, and preventative care lab work panels. Prevention is Best Medicine
Vaccines are recommended beginning from 8 weeks of age, for the duration of your pet's life. We recommend vaccines based off of your pet's lifestyle and environment. The same goes for parasite prevention! With the ease of travel, we are seeing more parasites in the area that used to not be as relevant to our preventative care protocols. We carry products that we believe provide the best flea, tick, heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention in all the ages and breeds. Your veterinarian will discuss all these things at every wellness appointment.
Why Preventative Care Panels?
Our pets don't always tell us how they're feeling. We have to rely on not only physical examinations, but also routine lab work to let us know how well your pet is doing overall. Checking blood, urine and fecal samples, can give our veterinarians a lot of information about your pet's overall health. We work closely with one of the leading veterinary diagnostic laboratories to offer comprehensive panels that provide all the information our doctors need to see how your pet is doing at each life stage. We recommend these panels annually so as your pet ages, our doctors can discern any changes from your pet's normal organ function.
Supporting Our Seniors
As our pets age, organ function can decrease resulting in chronic conditions that can affect your pet's quality of life. These changes are most often detected in our pet's thyroid, kidney, and liver function. Some pets can even develop diabetes as they age (in conjunction with other factors). We recommend running preventative care panels annually on our seniors so our veterinarians can detect these changes before they can severely affect our pet's quality of life. Most of these changes can be well managed over time if caught early on in development.
